1937 Custom Stubenberg Motor Yacht

Honolulu, Hawaii

$449,000

BUILT 1937 / RE-BUILT 2002

"Moe Ipo" is truly a one of a kind motor yacht, and a tribute to the owner who has dreamed, drafted, researched, and thought deeply about what he wanted her to represent. Re-fit, re-plated, recently hauled, and, do I dare say "finished"? Over the years we have watched this yacht being torn apart, pieced back together better and newer using the finest materials and craftsmen. Not an easy task in Hawaii. This vessel reminds us of a collaborative work of fine art. She really should be an art gallery or a museum, however, she has been a labor of Love and a home, and now, it is time for "Moe Ipo" to accept a new custodian.

General Description

MOE IPO is a custom Stubenberg 65 motor yacht with flybridge originally built in 1937. She was then refitted in 1987 and underwent a major refit in 2002 by its current owner in Honolulu, Hawaii, where her underwater hull plating was renewed. The displacement hull has a deep-V entry tapering aft along her chine, rolling chock stabilizers along her underwater hull sides, moderate deadrise, and a vertical
transom carrying a cantilevered stainless welded swim platform. The vessel is arranged on multiple levels with a flying bridge, main deck, and lower accommodations. Twin diesel motors coupled to conventional straight shafts provide propulsion with a single rudder centerline.

Flybridge Deck

The flybridge deck is situated atop the entire length of the main deckhouse and extends outwards to the vessel's beam, creating an overhang on the port and starboard sidewalks. Upon ascending the teak planked stairway from the aft deck to starboard up to the bridge deck, there is a four-person jacuzzi hot tub secured onto a wooden base to port, which is drained upon getting underway. Moving forward, there is an aft lounge deck furnished with cushioned removable bench seating to opposite sides of a low table. The flybridge helm station is situated forward of the mast and exhaust trunk. The helm station area is arranged with molded bench seating along the sides of the Portuguese-style bridge drop-leaf teak
dinette, and is protected overhead by canvas on aluminum framing with roll-down canvas weather curtains.

The pilot command station is positioned centrally on a teak console and orderly arranged with propulsion controls, a wooden ships wheel, an oversized compass in bronze housing, and port and starboard analog instrument panels. Forward of the flybridge is reserved for the sun deck with two chaise lounge chairs. The flybridge deck perimeter is guarded by a 36" tall two-tiered safety guard rail topped with teak.

Main Weather Deck

The main weather deck is accessed from boarding gates to port and starboard. The foredeck is arranged with 12" mooring cleats and a dual drum 12 VDC horizontal windlass. The 26" wide sidewalks along the deckhouse and narrow at a step up as the deckhouse widens and leads to the aft deck. A flush aluminum deck hatch to port leads down to the lazarette, which serves as storage, houses the freshwater tank, and provides access to the steering gear. There is a wooden propane locker beneath the flybridge stairs, and
wall mounted electric water heater. The swim platform is accessed down a two-step ladder equipped with a freshwater washdown bib and a two-burner propane grill. The swim platform serves as additional lounge seating when moored pier side. The main weather deck perimeter is guarded by a 36" tall two- tiered safety guard rail topped with teak.

Main Deck Interior

Wooden door entryways access the deckhouse at both port and starboard sidewalks midship. At the forward end of the deckhouse, interior is a custom seven-person V-shaped dinette with wraparound cushioned bench seating along the radiused forward end of the deckhouse. There are nine (9) bronze framed circular portlights. Moving aft is a spacious galley is 9' 6" wide with 6' 4" of headspace and 15' long copper countertops along the port and starboard bulkheads. The galley is fully equipped with a double basin sink, microwave, two refrigerators, freezer, four-burner retro range, ample drawer storage, custom shelving, and hanging racks above the countertops. The salon is situated aft of the deck house interior, separated by a structural archway through a pre- existing exhaust trunk which now serves as the vessel's main electrical cabinet. Starboard of the
aforementioned electrical cabinet is the ships office with computer desk and the vessels main electrical
distribution panels. The width of the deckhouse extends 12' athwartships with 7' 6" of headspace. There is an L-shape sofa along the port bulkhead and an electrically actuated fold-down flatscreen television opposite to starboard. A doorway on the aft bulkhead offset to starboard leads out to the aft main deck.

BELOW DECK ACCOMMODATIONS

The below deck accommodations include a guest stateroom and master suite accessed by separate companionways located at the galley and aft salon. The accommodations are partitioned by the engine room accessed at the owner's suite. The companionway in the starboard corner of the salon leads down to the owner's suite and is arranged with a soaking bathtub aft, vanity along the starboard bulkhead,
enclosed head, queen Pullman style berth to port, and hanging lockers throughout. A cutout at the dining table allows access to the forward section of the below deck accommodations. Descending the companionway stairs beneath the dining table leads directly to the guest head with a separate shower stall. Forward of the head through an arched doorway is a storage area with custom wooden wine racks to port and wine cooler with shelving to starboard. A cutout on the forward bulkhead of this storage area provides access to the chain lockers. A passageway to starboard leading aft around the companionway steps is the guest stateroom with opposing single berths to port and starboard, two (2) small desk spaces, and hanging lockers to starboard and beneath the companionway. The aluminum diesel fuel tanks are fitted beneath each bunk.
